On Monday, January 14, 2013, Nina Johnson attended the Community Caucus at Ivy Preparatory Academy at Kirkwood for Girls. Nina spoke with 6th and 7th grade scholars about pursuing their purpose and how to begin doing that right now. First Speaker Blitz Kicks Off

We hosted our first Speaker Blitz at KIPP Atlanta Collegiate in November 2012. We thank those that participated, and the administration, for the work done to create a great experience for the students. With participation from 15 new and past volunteers, we were able to travel throughout the school blitzing the classrooms with valuable information for KIPP freshmen and sophomores.

On May 19, 2012, community leader, political strategist, trainer and coach Stacey Chavis will speak to the Leaders of Tomorrow, a program facilitated by the Atlanta Chapter of the National Black MBA Association. Walter B. Stith recently visited KIPP Atlanta Collegiate to speak with students about his path to success and diverse career. Walter is a native of Atlanta and grew up on the west side of Atlanta in the Washington Park community. Walter graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 2001. He attended Western Michigan University on a full Athletic Scholarship to play football. Music Producers Nard and B, joined by Jamin Whatley of Self Made Entertainment, joined the ranks of speakers to participate in KIPP Atlanta Collegiate's speaker series on March 14, 2012. Nard and B, Grand Hustle's multi-platinum producers, have worked with artists such as T.I., B.O.B, and Maino. Jamin Whatley has managed music artists and producers under the emerging, Atlanta based company Self Made Entertainment. A graduate of Georgia State University, Jamin has been an entrepreneur for 10+ years, working in several management capacities within the Atlanta music and promotions scene.

Atlanta Speaks continued its speaker series on February 29, 2012 with Kurt Ehlers and Eboni Hillsman.
